I swear I need to start a Magibon category. This is the third or fourth post about her. I really didn’t plan on making any more posts about her, but in the interests of answering the biggest question about Magibon (WHY?!?!), and because I’m way too busy lately to look for anything else interesting to post about, I’m posting these two videos. They’re the entire interview from her debut on Japanese TV, complete with awesome Engrish subtitles.
She she talks more in this short appearance on Japanese TV than she does in all of her Youtube videos combined, I think. And that’s great! And she finally explains why she started Youtubing in the first place: just to see what she looked like on her new web cam. Things just kind of took off from there. Here it straight from her. Two vids below:
My heart goes out to her for being so worried about showing her teeth on camera. She’s a very pretty girl otherwise. Hopefully she’ll get some braces out of this whole thing at the very least so that she’ll feel better about herself. Although I suspect there’s a lot more to her lack of self esteem than just her teeth. Poor girl…Here’s the link to the GyaO news page about Magibon that’s referenced in the second video.

A while back you mused that magibon might be an “extremely smart individual using free tools to market herself ,” and I think you’ve nailed it.
She might be the best-ever example of Andy Worhol’s prediction that in the future (now, that is) everyone will be famous for 15 minutes. I don’t say that as a put-down of magibon…she’s just playing the game, after all, and with *truly* impressive skill. If good things happen for her, it’s because she’s made them happen. I think that’s simply part of the “celebrity process”…it happens by design, not by accident. Sure, it may all have started with “I wonder what I’d look like on my webcam,” but from there, she took it and ran. Sprinted. Hit warp speed.
I agree though that in some of the video coming out of Japan she seems painfully self-conscious and shy. I don’t consider myself a “magibon fan,” but it would have been nice to see her more confident and outgoing. Her YouTube videos demonstrate that she can be charming. But then it’s not everyday that dreams come true…and throw unending media scrutiny into the mix, and the whole thing’s got to be intimidating.
Dude, the videos don’t work. Please upload them again or give us a link where we can see these videos.
People want to know more about magibon.
There’s another “cute” girl as well, the Taiwanese “dodolook”. although she’s a bit more energetic than magibon. Congrously, she has also appeared on TV because of her YouTube fame.
I am sure, if all her subscribers pinch in a couple of dollars, her teeth will be fixed in no time.
She really is a gem. Did her parents neglect her dental health while growing up?
