| Would somebody explain to me what in the world this girl “Magibon” is all about? I was on Youtube the other day and clicked on a few of the “Videos being watched right now” and came across her videos. It was absolutely pointless, just 40-or-so seconds of her staring into the camera and saying a few things in Japanese before “making the V” (the universal pose every Asian girl makes in every photo) and turning off the camera. So I checked out several other videos of hers thinking I’d eventually find something with some sort of substance to it…the only thing I could find that could be confused for something interesting was one video where she was complaining in Japanese about how she doesn’t like America and wants to move to Japan. And that was the exception…Pretty much all of her dozens of videos are equally pointless. She just kind of stares at herself on her computer monitor, moves her head, makes a pouty/smirky face, says something seemingly pointless in Japanese, and makes a pouty/smirky face again. | Was that not thirty-four seconds of the most pointless video ever recorded? I can forgive a lot of the pointless videos on Youtube because a lot of videos have that “you just had to be there or know the people involved” quality. But hers don’t qualify; they’re just dumb. She says in her profile that she’s 21 years old, but I’ve seen some speculation on the web that she’s actually around 14, which I tend to believe based on my hope that an adult would be able to come up with something a little more productive/interesting/relevant/useful. Or maybe she is 21 and just bored. |
But as obnoxiously pointless as her videos are, she’s incredibly cute, which makes her videos like train wrecks…It’s really hard to look away. Her big cartoon eyes have some kind of evil power over people. I LOL’ed at what one guy on Youtube said about her:What is SHE SAYING?!?!?! Translation? I don’t get or understand any of her videos, some of them she doesn’t even talk, she just stares into your soul, and you leave thinking something inside of you is gone…=( |
| Well put. Her videos get tons of “You’re retarded. Do something worth watching in your videos” comments, so apparently lots of other people also hate but can’t stop watching her videos. Hmmm…maybe I’ve got her all wrong. She does get people talking about her, and the more people talk about her, the more people will want to see her videos. And the more people see her videos, the greater her chances are of catching the attention of someone in the entertainment business in Japan, which could lead to her fulfilling her dream of going to live there. So, yes, she could just be a really strange person. Or she could be an extremely smart individual using free tools to market herself in a way that will give her a good chance of actually realizing her dream of living in Japan. Either way, I’m hooked, and I’m sure you are too, so here’s the link to her Youtube profile so you can get your fix. Well, Magibon does have a fair share of her admirers and haters out there. The main crowd-appeal simply lies with her lovely looks, her fascination with Japanese culture and a veil of silence.

She wants to fly to Japan for free, and eventually live there, so she posts herself up, and says she wants to be in Japan, so she has gotten her way, because Japan had already provided her to fly to Japan, where she got to go on some Japanese tv variety show and meet her idol. They rewarded her for doing nothing, but saying phrases in Japanese, and complain about wanting to go to Japan. I want to go to Japan, and it has been my life long dream, but I have to earn my way to go there by earning my own money. Hec I don’t get to meet my favorite singer or actor, by acting stupid. Her scheme all along was so that she could meet her idol, and get a free trip to Japan.

Why do people hate this girl? I don’t understand. So what if she’s popular for doing nothing? You don’t have to subscribe.
There’s a lot of jealous chicks out there who can’t stand this girl, and list all these reasons why trying in vain to justify their hate… But we all know the truth, these people, who are complete and utter attention whores, just can’t believe this magibon chick completely pownzored them with one flutter of her eyelashes. I mean, why else would you vlog if you weren’t some vain person.
As a woman myself, I think it’s cheap way to get attention. If you believe so strongly for content over image, you’d have a text blog and be done with it. But no, these chicks (and some dudes) realize that they have nothing interesting or important to say so they do videos instead in their underpants, short skirts, and cleavage revealing tops.
That’s why I don’t have a problem with Magibon, she portrays the true essence of the vlogger, and doesn’t pretend to dress it up as something else. So, more power to you Magibon, you’ve obviously conquered YT with your cuteness and those other chicks can’t do a thing about it. LOL.

I thought all of her vids are pointless too and just for attention seeking, until one person pointed that she might be one of those peformance/fluxus artists or whatever they’re called. Hmm, interesting. Never really thought of it to be performance art since there are so many Youtube videos out there that are pointless, and calling them “performance art” is a poor excuse.

Her videos require no talent to make, but she’s definitely not retarded, she’s a genius.
She knows she’s cute, she knows she has that Anime look, and she knows that her eyes hypnotize you so that you definitely can NOT look away. And if that wasn’t enough, she knows that you secretly enjoy that feeling of no control, you hit the little subscribe button, and watch even more of her videos.
She knows how to get views. And she’s not hurting anybody, so all the haters should get over yourselves and find something useful to complain about. Like the government.

It’s a talent.
Basically, she started out fooling around; making deliberately pointless videos, and then everybody started making a big deal about her, so she started playing it up. She’s pretty much just having fun.
Also, she does use hypnotic techniques in her videos which are semi-deliberate, in that she’s kind of caught on that she entrances people.
pointless or not..who cares..she got to go to japan for FREE! and appear on her favorite tv IDOL show..now that’s really awesome..so envious..aww..she’s so lucky..she looks so young for a 21..and she’s got really pretty eyes that asian just love..she doesn’t look mix asian tho

I mean, how many times have you hear girls complain other girls get attention by showing up on youtube in bras and panties? Right… so I agree, they are being slutty – for the attention. This Magibon girl doesn’t even have to show cleavage (in some videos, you “could” see it) ! One of the other comments mentioned how she totally destroyed other attention seekers by batting her damn eyes ! I agree with that 100%. If you are going to seek attention, that all is fair game. Fact is, she’s just doing it better than 99.999% of the youtube population. Don’t hate people because they are good at what they do… Just be envious and realize your inferiority if you ever had some thing bad to say about Magibon.
MRirian has put her naturally large eyes to use – in creating an anime type character on You Tube who draws an incredible amount of interest by staring into the camera most of the time. Imitators of Magibon nearly always fail to achieve the same effect that MRirian does. She has her anime character practically down to an art form.
There is always admirers and haters in the world… You know something? I can tell you that there isnt many girls as pretty as Magi in existance on the planet. So I’d say it’s a blessing that she posts videos of herself on youtube for you guys to enjoy.
As some of you said, there might be a motive for her to make these videos (getting the media’s attention so she can visit Japan), but who cares? thats her personal life, if thats what she wants then let it be it. Whether or not she gets famous (not as if she isn;t anyways), has no concern for us. If she eventually becomes a model, actor, singer or whatever then it will be for the better as we can see her all the time.
I can’t see why shes hateable for some people. As an ex-psychology student, I can probably apply Freudian theory to explain this… All of you guys in your deepese thoughts actually like her, but knowing that you can’t get such a beautiful girl as her, you get jelous and try to supress your feelings. Your ego defence mechanism kicks in to try to justify the reasoning, which cannot be fully satisfied so you start to get angry about this girl. Not a good choice, just let it be. She is pretty, just accept it! However, if you really do hate her and this has nothing to do with your mind, then don’t watch her videos.
Like many of her admirers, I subscribed to her videos too. Yeah most of the videos are pointless, but seeing how cute she is, it will satisfy your soul just watching her stare at you for 50 seconds. I’m sure others will agree with me…
Magibon is just a girl who has a dream and fulfilling her desires. Not everyone gets their wishes come true but I am happy for her accomplishment. I always wish I could go to Japan for free but I am afraid to show my face and making fun of. She is like William Hung who made success even when everyone don’t like it. Well done.
Magibon. Just found out about her today, and this blog entry came up in Google. Well written article here that made things a bit clearer. Admittedly, her eyes are very pretty and manga / anime like. Despite the nothingness of the videos somehow it keepsme glued to the screen for their short duration. After reading that for some this girl is cute but also evil I can see why but not explain it :p

Well. YouTube slogan is “Broadcast Yourself”, and she did. YouTube was made for that. Suddenly for that reason, she gets what she wants: fame. Simple.
90% of the people who upload files, upload copyrighted material and say more stupid things. So, what’s the problem with her? This girl is a fake! She’s 23 years old, isn’t Japanese (she’s a white girl), and her eyes aren’t as huge as they look on camera, (ever considered affects?)…and physically, she is developed which proves her to be a woman. She’s very smart for being able to manipulate people into believing she is such, when she is not. Her reasons for doing so are unknown, but we can only guess.
