“Smack the Lion” game…

Setting mom on fire is fun!

I’ve complained a lot about how Japan has done a much better job of exporting their popular culture than China has, and I’m not alone in realizing that. I think a lot of the advantage Japan has is that their sense of humor as a nation is much more edgy and kooky than China’s. But on YouTube I found a pretty hilarious Chinese “commercial” for a “board game” (in the Saturday Night Live or MadTV vein), and it gives me hope that maybe China is becoming more random and bizarre

Just maybe. I’ve been doing a little research on teh intarwebz, and I’ve found out that the strange costumes they’re wearing are actually freebies given out by Bavaria Beer, a Dutch brewing company. So it may be just a silly, viral advertising campaign from those guys. Whatever the case, I’m in love. It’s rare to see something this funny and random in Chinese. Since I can’t get the YouTube video embedding code to work here, I’ll just post a link to the video below. Click to check it out, and enjoy!
